Facebook blocks radical boogaloo movement

Facebook strengthens the fight against the American anti-government movement “boogaloo” – supporter accounts are blocked that encourage violence in protests against racism in the United States.

The social network considers this movement a dangerous radical organization, and the same sanctions are now applied to its supporters as to 250 groups of supporters of white supremacy and organizations that are classified as supporting terrorism around the world.

Attorney General William Barr had previously set up a Justice Department task force to counter violent anti-government extremists, including boogaloo and Antifa.

The title of the movement is inspired by the 1984 film Breakin ’2: Electric Boogaloo. Followers hint that since the film was a sequel, then any impending conflict would allegedly be a continuation of the US civil war.
