Joel Schumacher, a costume designer who became a movie director, died at the age of 80.
Schumacher is known for such films as “The Lost Boys”, “The Fall”, “Batman Forever”, “The Lights of St. Elm” and many others. He passed away Monday morning after a year’s battle with cancer.
Schumacher brought his fashion experience to the director’s series of stylish films of the 1980s and 1990s, which were not always welcomed by critics, but are still popular with viewers for capturing a sense of the era.
Between the two Batman films, Schumacher shot an adaptation of Grisham’s novel “Time to Kill,” starring Samuel L. Jackson, Kevin Spacey, Sandra Bullock, Ashley Judd and aspiring Matthew McConaughey.
