For a father who left the twins to die in a warmed-up car in the Bronx, there would be no prison term.
Juan Rodriguez pleaded guilty on two counts to the reckless threat of the second degree for the death of the Moon and Phoenix Rodriguez on July 26, 2019. In exchange for a guilty plea, he received a suspended sentence of one year.
The father appeared in court with tears in his eyes, admitting that he had killed his children, forgetting about their presence in the car. He locked them and went to work. The twins were only one year old. He said that he thought he brought them to kindergarten before going to work.
