The iPhone planned for 2022 will receive a periscope telephoto lens. This is reported by MacRumors with reference to the report of Ming-Chi Kuo.
The insider said that in 2020 and 2021 Apple will negotiate with new suppliers of optical equipment. The corporation intends to enter into supply contracts with Sunny Optical and Semco. The latter will ensure the supply of parts for telephoto periscope lenses for smartphone cameras.
Ko believes that Apple will introduce the first smartphone with a periscope camera in 2022. Presumably, the iPhone 14 will have more advanced optical zoom than current devices. Launched in fall 2019, the iPhone 11 Pro Max has a triple camera setup with 12MP wide, ultra-wide and telescopic lenses.
The publication noted that the technology of periscopic lenses has found application in some flagship smartphones on the market. In particular, the Huawei P30 Pro, released in 2019, has a similar lens.
Earlier it became known that the iPhone 13 planned for 2021 will have a record thin body. According to insiders, this will be possible thanks to the introduction of a new type of OLED matrix with an integrated sensor layer.
