A man from Florida was arrested on Tuesday after allegedly shot a cyclist in the head with a crossbow

The incident occurred in the evening in the Fort Walton Beach area. According to police, 42-year-old Matthew Ross Peters stopped his truck next to the victim’s bike, Benny Davis, and then suddenly shot and fled the scene. Davis was taken to the hospital with serious head injuries, after which the authorities managed to find a Ford pickup belonging to Peters, parked at a local motel. The police cordoned off the perimeter and established surveillance of the building: 4 hours later, Peters came out into the street, holding a crossbow in his hands. Upon detention, he was found to have meth. Peters is charged with severe physical injury and drug possession. His motives are not currently known.
