Former French President Sarkozy denied allegations of corruption and influence trading

The prosecutor’s office demanded that former French president Nicolas Sarkozy be sentenced to four years in prison, two of which are suspended. The former head of state is being tried on charges of corruption and trading in influence.

According to the investigation, he promised a high-ranking cassation court officer a post in Monaco in exchange for information about the investigation into the illegal financing of Sarkozy’s own campaign. The former president rejects all charges.

The ex-president’s lawyer and the court officer are also among the defendants. For them, the prosecutor also demands a four-year prison sentence.
