A 4-year-old boy from Texas was rescued Tuesday night after first responders spent 6 hours trying to pull him out of an 8-inch-wide well.
Rescuers arrived on the call in Garcenio around 4:40 p.m. According to Starr County Sheriff Rene “Orta” Fuentes, the child had fallen into a well on the ranch property. Employees from several local services were involved in the operation to rescue the boy, which lasted more than six hours. According to Deputy Chief Robert Alvarez of the Mission Fire Department, the rescuers were applauded as they pulled the boy out of the hole where he had fallen to a depth of 2.5 meters.
According to the sheriff, the child was taken to the hospital and was in stable condition. His life was not in danger.
