France accuses Turkey of aggressive intervention in Libya

France accused Turkey of aggressively intervening in the war-torn Libya and violating the arms embargo.

A senior French official said France was outraged by “Turkey’s even more aggressive and insistent position – seven Turkish ships were deployed off the Libyan coast and the arms embargo was violated,” writes Asharq Al-Awsat. “France will not stand aside, as the Turks continue to behave unacceptably and exploit NATO,” he said.

According to him, President Emmanuel Macron has already held talks this week with his US counterpart Donald Trump, and “an exchange of views will take place with NATO partners on this issue in the coming weeks.”

Last week, a Turkish warship did not allow the new EU naval mission to check a cargo ship off the coast of Libya.
