France is not fighting against Islam, which in fact respects, but against extremism and terrorism.
The corresponding statement was made by French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian at a joint press conference with Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shukri in Cairo.
“Muslims are part of France, and we are fighting extremism and terrorism, from which other countries, including Egypt, also suffer. France respects Islam,” the French Foreign Minister stressed.
According to him, during the talks in Cairo with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi and the head of the country’s foreign ministry, the terrorist attacks committed in French cities were discussed.
