General Motors recalls tens of thousands of electric cars

Withdrawal is caused by Chevrolet Bolt 2017-2019 fires

General Motors announced the recall of 68,677 Chevrolet Bolt electric vehicles worldwide. The reason was named the danger of spontaneous combustion: five cars of this brand had fires, in two cases they caused burns. According to preliminary data, in all cases, the batteries were fully or 90% charged.

The review concerns electric cars Chevrolet Bolt 2017-2019 with high-voltage batteries manufactured at LG Chem Ltd plant in South Korea.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration of the United States also reported the launch of an investigation into fire cases.
