Actress Helen Mirren will play Israel’s only female prime minister, Golda Meir, in the new biographical film “Golda” about the events of the Doomsday War.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, filming will begin later this year. Nicholas Martin wrote the screenplay, and “Golda” is being directed by Israeli director and Oscar winner Guy Nativ.
“As someone who was born during the Yom Kippur War, I am honored to tell this fascinating story of the first and only woman who ever led Israel. I am thrilled to work with the legendary Ms. Mirren to bring this epic, emotional and complex story to life,” said the director.
By the way, last month the Shira Haas series “Lioness” was announced, in which viewers will be presented with the story of Golda Meir from her birth in Kiev and life in the United States to achieving the position of Prime Minister of Israel.
