In a candid scene, a clothed Frances McDormand goes to fix her makeup when she realizes she’s not alone in the bathroom. Pulling back the shower curtain, she sees a naked Timothy Chalamet taking a bath and working on his speech. “I’m naked,” the hero says bluntly. “I can see that,” the woman replies.
When Chalamet asks McDormand to proofread his manifesto, she declares that it contains a lot of water, both physically and metaphorically.
Note that the film was Anderson’s love letter to journalism and was met with rave reviews at Cannes, where it received a nine-minute standing ovation.
However, despite his obvious fascination with the fourth power, Anderson declined to hold a traditional press conference with his cast at the event or give any interviews to reporters in attendance, Variety reported. “I hope we’ll be back soon with another movie. Thank you,” he told the crowd briefly after the screening.
