Hurricane Douglas goes to Hawaii

Hurricane Douglas is predicted to move closer to the Hawaiian Islands in the next 24 hours. The arrival of a storm will bring flash floods, devastating winds and powerful surf to the archipelago.

The Pacific Hurricane Center has issued a hurricane warning for Oahu, Kauai and Maui. The Douglas will gradually weaken as it travels northwest, but is forecast to bring bad weather to Hawaii.

There is a possibility that Douglas will pass through Oahu if the center of the storm shifts. Winds can reach speeds of 80 km per hour and more. Parts of Maui, Oahu and Kauai are subject to power outages and disruptions.

Precipitation can cause flash floods and landslides in parts of the island chain, especially in higher relief areas.
