In December the inhabitants of the Earth will be able to observe a rare space phenomenon

The event is connected with the approach of Saturn and Jupiter to each other at an extremely small distance. Two bodies will almost collide visually to form one luminous point.

Already next month, a rare cosmic phenomenon called a Christmas star will occur, which can be observed from Earth.

Approximately half a month ago, two planets stood on the same line. At the end of next month, they will move so that they will be visible to residents of Earth. There will be a phenomenon 21.12, the day of the winter solstice, when the light day will be the shortest in the year.

Externally, the phenomenon will be similar to a double planet. Such a close body has not flown up since the Middle Ages. The alignment of the planets occurs about every two decades. The upcoming Christmas star is unique, because the objects flew incredibly close, said Patrick Hartigan of Rice University.

According to the astronomers, the unique event will be well viewed from anywhere in the world. The only condition is that the sky must be clean. It is worth looking for a star in the western sky about 60 minutes after sunset (relevant for residents of the middle hemisphere).

Astronomers are already preparing equipment to analyze the upcoming event in detail. It is very serious, because the second such rapprochement of Jupiter and Saturn can not be expected.

The most collision of the planets, of course, will not happen. Only there will be an impression that something terrible is about to happen in the Solar System. The astronomers have assured that there is no reason to worry.
