In Houston, dozens of human smuggling victims were rescued

Police found about 30 people in the house of Houston after a man running down the street shouted that he had been kidnapped. As a result of the rescue operation, law enforcement rescued them all.

The men were held captive during a smuggling operation. Officers broke into the house and found 29 men and one woman, police spokesman Jonathon Halliday said. “Most people said they were detained in Brownsville two days to a week ago and held there,” Halliday said.

Police said the majority of those rescued were illegal immigrants from Mexico, El Salvador, Honduras or Cuba. Three suspects have been detained, who brought them into the country and were held captive.
