In Japan, in one of the prefectures near Tokyo, a 53-year-old woman was arrested for trying to put out the Olympic flame with a water pistol during the relay.

The woman protested against the Tokyo Olympics against the backdrop of the coronavirus pandemic. The intruder was arrested and detained for “intentionally shooting a runner and interfering with the relay.”

“You can’t shoot water at people without good reason. She clearly wasn’t playing – it’s not child’s play,” said Deputy Police Chief Noriaki Nagatsuka in the city of Mito.
