According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the number of homicides in the city increased by 250%.

In the first week of June in Los Angeles there was a massive surge in killings. From May 31 to June 6, the death toll increased by 250%, and the number of victims of firearms – by 56% compared with the previous week.

Over the past 24 hours, four shootings were recorded in the city, and one was killed. Detectives are still looking for suspects.

In April, in Los Angeles there was a 23% decrease in crime – against the background of a general lockdown due to coronavirus. Police do not report whether the increase in the June killings is due to loosening restrictions or ongoing protests over George Floyd’s death.
