In the New York area of Brooklyn, two policemen were shot dead, another was stabbed

According to police commissioner Dermot Shea, at about 11:45 p.m. two police officers were working on a looting call on the corner of Church and Flatbus Street when a man armed with a knife came up and hit one of the policemen in the neck.
At some point, the attacker managed to snatch a gun from one of the officers and shoot several times.
According to authorities, after the shots were heard, two more police officers arrived at the scene. The suspect shot them. Both cops were injured in the hands. The attacker himself is also wounded.
Law enforcement officers were hospitalized. It is reported that their lives should not be threatened.
So far, there are no official reports about the identity of the attacker and the reasons for what happened.
