In Saudi Arabia, in the city of Jeddah, during a ceremony to commemorate the end of the First World War, organized by the French embassy, an explosion occurred. At least four people were injured.
This is reported by Reuters.
The ceremony was attended by diplomats from the European Union and other countries.
A Greek official told Reuters that four people were injured.
“There was an explosion at a non-Muslim cemetery in Jeddah. Four people were slightly injured, including one Greek,” he said.
France has called on its citizens living in Saudi Arabia to be as vigilant as possible after the incident. The French authorities consider this another attack.
“The embassies that participated in the ceremony condemn this cowardly attack and call on the Saudi authorities to shed as much light as possible on it, as well as to identify and track down the perpetrators,” the French Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
The explosion was the second security incident to occur in Jeddah in the last couple of weeks, and the first explosive attack against foreigners in many years.
