In the Austrian capital, thousands of people gathered to protest quarantine restrictions

On Saturday, January 16, there was a demonstration of many thousands of people against quarantine restrictions in Vienna.

Demonstrators called for the restrictions to be lifted and demanded the resignation of the current government. It is reported by The Local.

In particular, demonstrators were holding banners with slogans “You are the disease. We are the cure.”

At the same time, most of the protesters refused to keep a social distance and use protective masks.

“The number of deaths we are told is nonsense. I don’t want to end up like China, where you have no right to do anything,” said one of the demonstrators.

Since the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic, 7,53 deaths caused by COVID-19 have been reported in Austria, with a population of 8.9 million.

Experts have advised the Austrian government to extend quarantine restrictions beyond Jan. 25, and to put all citizens who continue to work on a remote basis.
