Amid restrictive measures due to the spread of coronavirus in the United States, birth rates are expected to increase. This was stated by a professor at the University of Nevada in Las Vegas, Catherine Heartline, RIA Novosti reported.
Along with an increase in the number of newborns, the number of divorces can increase. Program Manager for Computational Sociology, Richard Evans, believes that the birth rate in the United States could increase by the end of 2020 by 2%.
Thus, 6,000 more babies will be born each month in the US than before the outbreak of coronavirus, Evans added.
As REGNUM reported earlier, by the end of 2018, the total birth rate in the United States reached a record low of 1.73. However, to maintain the population level, every woman in the country must give birth to two or more children.
