The social network Instagram can become a more popular source of news than Twitter
This is evidenced by data from the Reuters Institute Digital News, reports Business Insider.
So, about 11% of respondents in 12 countries said that they used the Instagram application to read news – almost twice as much as in 2018 – compared with 12% who follow the news on Twitter.
It is noted that young users are much more likely to view news on Instagram. In the USA in particular, in April only 12% of adults used Instagram for news related to coronavirus, and at the age from 18 to 24 this percentage is 26.
While text is still the most popular way to consume digital news, young audiences are more likely than older generations to prefer visual formats for news feeds that Instagram is well suited for.
