Intel mocked Apple

Intel called Apple computers unfit for gaming.

The company released a presentation, according to which on computers from Apple either popular games are not available, or their performance does not compare to the performance on PC. Intel analysts listed the in-demand titles – APEX Legends, the Call of Duty series, PUBG, Hitman 3, Grand Theft Auto V and other titles. The report says that more than half of the named games are not supported by macOS.

Intel experts also noted that the games launched on Mac run much worse than on computers with similar configuration running on Windows. For example, the performance of Hitman 3 on PC is 1.23 times faster than on Mac, GRID 2019 – 1.2 times, Civilization V – 3.54 times. Analysts compared an Intel i9-based MacBook Pro with an AMD Radeon Pro 5600M graphics card to an Intel i5-based PC with an Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060 graphics card. The company mocked the Mac, noting that even the system’s supported titles often slow down and crash.

According to journalists, Intel intentionally used not the most powerful Windows computer. Thereby the company wanted to show that modern games on PC are an extra option even for those users who bought their device for the sake of work.

This is not the first time Intel has mocked a former business partner. In February, the corporation launched an advertising campaign with the slogan “Only a PC can be equally useful for scientists and gamers”, making fun of Apple devices. Apple computers have long used processors from Intel, but in the summer of 2020, Tim Cook’s corporation announced a transition to its own ARM processors.
