Iran: emergency shutdown of the only nuclear power plant

The only nuclear power plant in Iran, which is located near the city of Bushehr, has been emergency stopped.

This was announced by a representative of the state electricity company Gholamali Rakhshanimer, speaking on TV. According to him, the nuclear power plant was shut down on Saturday, June 19, and will not operate for another three to four days.

Rahshanimer said that the shutdown of the nuclear power plant could lead to power outages.

The reasons for the emergency shutdown of the Bushehr power plant were not named, but Iran had previously stated that the nuclear power plant could stop operating because the state could not procure parts and equipment.

By the way, this is the first time Iran has reported an emergency shutdown of its only nuclear power plant.
