Iran protests to UN International Court over US sanctions

Tehran has protested at the UN International Court of Justice on the impact of US sanctions on the situation with the coronavirus in Iran, said Republic Vice President for Legal Affairs Laya Jonaydi.

“A new protest was filed with the UN International Court in connection with the influence of sanctions on the spread [of Iran] of a disease caused by a coronavirus,” Tony quotes Jonaydi with reference to Mehr News Agency.

Recall that in early April, the United States blocked the allocation of an IMF loan to Iran in the amount of $ 5 billion to combat coronavirus. Later, US President Donald Trump offered Iran assistance in the fight against coronavirus in exchange for a new deal.

In response, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani accused the United States of violating international law due to the tightening of US sanctions against Tehran in the context of the coronavirus pandemic.
