Sanctions against Iranian law enforcement officials are imposed by Washington because of the failure of previous U.S. anti-Iranian sanctions, but they are also useless. This was stated by Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Abbas Musavi on May 21, the press service of the Iranian Foreign Ministry quoted him.

Musavi also noted that, in his opinion, the latest US sanctions are a blatant violation of UN Security Council resolution 2231 and pointed out that the international community should hold the US accountable for such violations.

In addition, he specified that Washington was forced to impose such sanctions because all other sanctions against Iran were useless.
