Iraqi trucks carrying US Army cargo hit by explosions

A convoy of Iraqi trucks carrying a cargo of US forces into the country was blown up on Wednesday, July 22.

As reported by the Anadolu news agency, citing a source in the Iraqi police, “on the road to Al-Bathaa in Dhi Qar province, two explosive devices tore the tires of Iraqi trucks carrying logistical support to US forces.”

According to the agency’s source, there were no casualties, material damage was caused to trucks and their cargo.

Less than two weeks ago, a group of unidentified armed men stopped another convoy of trucks carrying military equipment for the US and international coalition forces in Diwaniyah. The cars were burned.

US forces are often threatened by Iranian-backed Shiite militias, including Iraqi Hezbollah. They are also often accused of regularly firing rockets at the US embassy in Baghdad.
