U.S. President Joe Biden announced a sweeping plan to modernize the country’s infrastructure, which will cost the budget $2 trillion.
Biden has already stated that this is a unique investment in America, which is necessary for the U.S. to catch up with China.
According to the plan, America will create millions of jobs under the largest program since World War II, improve about 32,000 miles of roads, 10,000 bridges, airports and other facilities. It is also planned to improve the quality of water supply and power networks that have fallen into disrepair. Funds will be spent to provide citizens with high-speed Internet and to build quality housing.
Biden’s proposal should be supported in the U.S. Congress. And while Democrats backed the infrastructure modernization package during the election, Senate Republican Minority Leader Mitch McConnell rejected the plan. Joe Biden will need at least 10 “yes” votes from Republican Party members to approve the plan.
