U.S. Space Forces Commander Air Force Gen. John Raymond, speaking at a Senate Appropriations Committee hearing, said Moscow and Beijing are developing their space capabilities, which will take away America’s advantage in this area.
“China, as a growing threat, and Russia continue to develop two things. They are developing space capabilities to have the same advantages that we have,” he said.
Raymond also said China and Russia are developing weapons systems specifically designed to take away U.S. advantages.
“These include suppressing our GPS and communications satellites, using directed energy that can blind, disrupt or damage our satellites,” the American general added.
In addition, Russia and China are allegedly using cyber capabilities to deny the U.S. access to outer space.
