Kamala Harris: African American becomes Vice President for the first time

Kamala Harris will go down in history as the first African American to become a US Vice President as a result of these tough elections.

In her victory speech Saturday night, beaming Kamala Harris addressed all the “little girls.” “Know that I am watching over you. And one day you too will be in the spotlight. While I may be the first woman in this office, I won’t be the last, ”she said, addressing the cheering crowd on the street in Wilmington, Delaware.

“Because every little girl looking tonight sees that this is a land of opportunity,” Harris said.

She described newly elected President Joe Biden as “a man with a big heart who loves selflessly.” She also thanked 74 million Americans who supported the Democratic candidate. “Thank you for coming in record numbers to make your voices heard. I know these times have become difficult. But you chose hope and unity, decency, science, ”she said.
