Spanish police and their Portuguese colleagues intercepted a large shipment of black cocaine disguised as charcoal.
The criminals had treated the drug so that it had no odor and was undetectable to sniffer dogs. Police seized 862 kilograms of such cocaine.
The investigation began in 2020. Police got on the trail of a major drug trafficker who cooperated with a Portuguese port. Authorities traced the containers to an industrial complex in the Spanish city of Medina del Campo, where the perpetrators planned to purify the drug. After the shipment arrived, police raided and arrested three men.
