Lebanese celebrating the New Year fired on four planes

Four planes of Middle East Airlines were damaged during the New Year celebrations in Beirut, Vesti reported citing local media.

Residents of the Lebanese capital celebrated the New Year in the traditional way – with “festive shooting” of firearms. Stray bullets hit four airliners, including the Airbus A321, a relatively recent addition to the fleet.

All damaged airliners were grounded and specialists were evaluating the damage. The security service of the airport demanded from the law enforcement authorities to ensure its safety and to prevent similar incidents in the future.

Earlier, the French media reported that about 80 cars were burned on New Year’s Eve in Paris.
