American jazz drummer Jimmy Cobb died at the age of 91 in New York, according to NPR.
According to the publication, the musician died in his home in Manhattan on Sunday, May 24. His family reported the loss a day later. The cause of death was lung cancer.
NPR notes that Jimmy Cobb remained the last surviving member of the first “great” line-up of the Quintet of Miles Davis.
Over the years of creativity since 1949, he collaborated with many famous musicians – Billy Holliday, Gil Evans, Dina Washington, Wes Montgomery.
