The rights to the English-language remake of Thomas Vinterberg’s Danish drama “One More at a Time” (Druk) was acquired by Leonardo DiCaprio’s production company Appian Way Productions.
The film follows a man going through a mid-life crisis who, along with three friends, decides to investigate the effects of daily alcohol consumption. As the action progresses, the comrades lose control of the experiment.
It is assumed that the actor will play a major role in the film, which in the original went to Mads Mikkelsen, but so far no agreement has been reached.
At the moment, the creators of the remake are looking for writers for the project. Director Vinterberg himself will act as executive producer.
According to the publication, the tender for the remake took place over the past two weeks. Jake Gyllenhaal’s production company Nine Stories and Elizabeth Banks also took part, under the auspices of Universal Pictures.
On April 26, “One More at a Time” won the Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film. Previously, the film had already been awarded the British Film Award BAFTA and also won the grand prize of the European Film Academy.
