Manchester United’s Uruguayan striker has been banned from the pitch for three consecutive matches for making racist remarks on Instagram. It was announced by the Football Association of England (FA).
Edinson Cavani shared an Instagram post by a fan after beating Southampton in an English Premier League (AFL) match on Nov. 29. The text contained offensive language and was blocked by the platform.
Cavani, 33, was found guilty of violating FA rules and was given a penalty.
In the match against Southampton, Cavani scored a double. The Uruguayan forward equalized in the 74th minute and brought his team to victory in extra time.
