After the Duchess of Sussex announced that she miscarried last July, Meghan Markle announced the good news that she and husband Prince Harry will soon have their second child.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex officially confirmed on Sunday that they are expecting their second child. The baby will be the younger brother of the couple’s son Archie Harrison, who will turn 2 on May 6. “We can confirm that Archie will be an older brother. The Duke and Duchess are very excited to be expecting their second child,” a spokesperson for the couple said.
Meghan and Harry announced their pregnancy by posting a black-and-white photo that was taken remotely via iPad by their friend and longtime photographer Mizan Harriman. The news of the impending addition they shared on Valentine’s Day.
A few months ago, Meghan, 39, revealed that she suffered a miscarriage last July. “Losing a child is to carry an almost unbearable grief that many people experience, but few people talk about,” she wrote Nov. 25 in a candid essay for the New York Times.
Meghan and Harry officially relinquished their status as senior members of the British royal family last year. The couple settled into their new home in Montecito after moving to California in mid-March.
