Donald Trump is not the only one to leave the White House with a record disapproval rating. First Lady Melania Trump is officially the least popular U.S. first lady in recent years, a CNN/SSRS poll showed.
Melania Trump ended her term in the White House with an unfavorable rating of 47% and an approval rating of 42%, which still makes her more popular than her husband, who left office with an approval rating of 33% and disapproval of 60%.
“47% is the highest unfavorable rating we have ever recorded for MelaniaTrump. It’s also surprisingly high from a historical perspective. Traditionally, first ladies are admired most of the time. This position is unelectable and usually not controversial. However, it’s hard to be that unpopular,” according to the CNN report.
CNN notes that before Melania Trump, the average final first lady approval rating was 71% with an unfavorable rating of 21%. In fact, the second least popular first lady was Hillary Clinton, who left the White House in 2001 with a net approval rating of 52% and disapproval rating of 39%.
