U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said that the coronavirus pandemic has caused up to $9 trillion in damages in the world.

“China’s contribution to the fight against the pandemic is negligible compared to the price it made the whole world pay. This plague has already cost 90 thousand American lives, more than 36 million Americans have lost their jobs since March. There are 300,000 dead worldwide and we estimate that there could be as much as $9 trillion in damages,” Mike Pompeo said at a State Department press conference.

May 18, Chinese President Xi Jinping said that China is ready to allocate $2 billion to support states affected by the coronavirus pandemic. The head of the People’s Republic of China stressed that his country had informed WHO about the spread of coronavirus infection in a proper amount and absolutely transparently.

Earlier, U.S. President Donald Trump said that China had withheld data and provided incomplete statistics on Covid-19.
