Minneapolis said goodbye to George Floyd

A farewell ceremony with George Floyd took place in Minneapolis, USA – the deceased’s relatives, as well as activists, politicians and show business representatives, attended the closed event. Over the next six days, several more mourning events will be held in memory of Floyd – including in North Carolina and Houston.

The 46-year-old African American, George Floyd, was detained by Minneapolis police on May 25 on suspicion of using a fake bill. Eyewitnesses filmed how officer Derek Chauvin put the detainee on the pavement and crushed his neck with his knee. Chauvin and his colleagues did not pay attention to the cries of “I can’t breathe,” Floyd was hospitalized and died in the hospital.

In Minneapolis, and later in other US cities, rallies and demonstrations against police violence began and continue for more than a week. The policeman who killed Floyd was arrested and charged with second-degree murder, his colleagues aiding and abetting the murder.
