More than 20 coronavirus vaccines are being developed in Russia

The creation of the world’s first coronavirus vaccine “Sputnik V” was “a new milestone in the fight against the pandemic”.

Another 24 coronavirus vaccines are being developed in Russia, besides two already registered ones. Such a number was named by Inna Kulikova, the director of the department of emergency medical care and health risk management of the Ministry of Health, reports “Interfax” on Tuesday, December 8.

“Gam-Kovid-Vak” vaccine was registered on August 11, 2020 and “EpiVakKorona” vaccine was registered two months later. At present, Russian national research institutes and pharmaceutical companies are developing another 24 variants of vaccines”, – noted Kulikova.

On December 2, Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered to start vaccination against coronavirus. He said that this was possible due to the volume of vaccine “Sputnik V” produced in the country. The Russian leader added that in the near future the number of doses released will reach two million. Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Tatyana Golikova said that all regions of Russia will join the vaccination at the end of next week.

According to the latest data, a total of 2,515,009 cases of coronavirus infection were detected in Russia, of which 1,981,526 ended in recovery. In the last 24 hours 26,097 people were diagnosed with this disease.
