More than 50 million Americans are hungry in 2020

Feeding America predicts that more than 50 million Americans will be hungry in 2020, up from 35 million before the Coronavirus Pandemic. That means one in six people, including one in four children in the U.S., lacks food protection.

Erica Yeager, chief external affairs officer at North Texas Food Bank, says the organization delivers 10 million meals a month. According to her, the need for free meals will increase dramatically over the next 2 years.

Under Feeding America projects, over 2 million children in Texas alone need food. This is the reality that 17-year-old Michael Glasco is now facing. “Now I’m trying to get a job while still in college. This will at least help the family to pay the most important bills,” he says.
