Five years have passed since the band Paramore released their music as a group, however the situation is changing.
The group, which consists comprising Hayley Williams, Zac Farro and Taylor York, returned from their absence this the afternoon of Wednesday (Sept. 28) to debut a new track, “This is Why” as well as a Brendan Yates-directed music video. “This is why I never leave the house/ You declare the ocean is clean but you can’t keep me out. Oh, what’s the reason? This is the reason,” Williams sings in the lively chorus.
The track is the title track for the band’s forthcoming six-album, This is Why which is scheduled for release in February, 2023 through Atlantic Records.
“‘This Is Why’ was the last track we composed to accompany the album. To be honest, I was bored of writing lyrics, and lyrics, but Taylor got me to agree with Zac and myself that we needed to come up with the final idea,” Williams said of the track in an announcement to the press.
“What resulted became the song that was to be the title of the album in all its entirety. It sums up the array of absurd emotions that come with living in 2022 and being alive even for 3 or 4 years. It would seem that after an epidemic of size and proportions and the imminent end of our planet, that people would have found it in themselves to become gentler or more understanding or some other thing.”
Last occasion that Paramore dropped an album together was in 2017, with the release of After Laughter that featured songs such as “Hard Times” and “Rose-Colored Boy.” Since the time, Williams dropped her own solo album, Petals for Armor in the year 2020, and Farro has released a variety of her own works under the name Halfnoise.
When they reunited as a group, Williams recently spoke to SiriusXM’s Zane Lowe, “I think it was crucial for us to get some time free of the stigma that was associated with Paramore. Also, obviously, the web has always been something that’s been the Wild West, but even crazy in the last few years. Therefore, the best way to protect your energy is now more important that ever.”
Farro said, “It’s a job at the end of the day, but it’s also the most rewarding job you can get on earth. However, you have to decide to get up , put on your dress and perform it with excellence. In my opinion, everyone has their own method of thinking about what they must do to get there and perform the best job they can do in their job.
If it’s taking yourself off for a short time or not having a particular identification with it or what ever that makes it the best Paramore since you return and feel that much more… “I’m happy to have had some time away, and now I’m ready to go back to smash this. ‘”
