New Mexico official detained in connection with riots outside U.S. Congress

Detainee Coye Griffin is a representative of Otero County authorities, as well as an active supporter of incumbent President Donald Trump and the founder of the activist group Cowboys for Trump. He was charged with trespassing into the building of the U.S. Congress.

In addition, according to the agency, Griffin repeatedly expressed a desire to return to Washington on the day of the inauguration of U.S. President-elect Joseph Biden. It is alleged that he allegedly intended to take firearms with him and defend “his country and freedom.”
