Release expected in spring 2021
Microsoft has already released a test build of Windows 10 for Windows Insider test program participants with an updated Start menu. As a result, we had the opportunity to familiarize ourselves with the innovations in more detail.
Details shared the thematic resource WindowsLatest. Microsoft did not bring anything fundamentally new to the design, but fixed it so that the interface became simpler, more accurate and more versatile. Also, the interface is gradually being brought in line with Windows 10X, the version of the OS intended for devices with two screens.
The new Start menu has lost a colorful mix of different colors, the look has become more versatile. Live tiles remain part of the OS, but static tiles now use the same background color to match the OS dark, light, or selected color theme.
Tiles are located on a translucent background. The color underlays for application icons have disappeared, the underlay now matches the system theme. The changes are especially noticeable when using the color theme in the Start menu.
Build Windows 10 Build 20161 in the channel for developers includes a new Start menu, as well as small changes in the behavior of alerts and status bars. Microsoft is gradually expanding access to the new Start menu among test participants.
It is noted that the new Start menu is not tied tightly to any particular version of Windows 10, but it can be expected with the release of the spring update in 2021 – Windows 10 21H1.
