New Year's Eve crystal ball collected in Times Square

Workers completed the assembly of the New Year’s Eve crystal ball in Times Square, New York, on Sunday evening.

The object is located on the roof of Building 1 in the square, between 42nd and 43rd Streets. Specialists have installed 192 new Waterford crystal triangles on the iconic balloon, which will fall at exactly midnight.

The design of this year’s balloon is called ‘The Gift of Happiness’, it weighs more than 11,000 pounds and has a diameter of 12 feet. Just before the balloon drops, there will be the traditional Dick Clark show, with Jennifer Lopez as the main star this year. The New Year’s Eve programme will be hosted by fashionista and actor Billy Porter.
