The authorities attributed this decision to the fact that the social network is used for activities that could undermine the existence of Nigeria.

The minister also ordered the National Broadcasting Commission to immediately begin the process of licensing all social networks in Nigeria.

It is worth noting that the ban was imposed after Twitter deleted a post by Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari that talked about Nigeria’s civil war of 1967-1970 and how to behave with “those who misbehave today. The tweet threatened to punish those responsible for the recent attacks on polling and police stations.
