Now anyone can get a Grammy

The organizers of the American Grammy Music Awards introduce new rules by which anyone can receive an award in the category “Best New Artist”.

The U.S. Recording Academy announces changes in one of the most controversial categories, allowing popular artists to get a figurine without an official album.

Already during the 63rd ceremony, the category “Best New Artist” will no longer be awarded on the basis of “the indicated maximum number of releases”. Now the basis for the award will be “determining whether the performer achieved a breakthrough or fame in the year of selection.”

Also now the category “Best Rap / Sung Performance” is called “Best Melodic Rap Performance”, and “Urban Contemporary” has been replaced by “Progressive R&B”.
