NSA: Russian hackers exploit vulnerabilities in VMware products

The Office recommends that the software adjustments provided by the Office be applied as soon as possible.

The U.S. National Security Agency warns that “government sponsored” Russian hackers are actively exploiting software vulnerabilities in several products developed by VMware.

The NSA recommends that organizations “as soon as possible” apply the software corrections provided by the company on Saturday.

According to the NSA warning, if used successfully, the vulnerability will allow a hacker to remotely execute operating system commands on an infected device, which can lead to data theft or corruption.

VMware warning specifies that hackers will first need to access user account with stolen password in order to fully exploit the vulnerability.

The Russian government has consistently denied its involvement in malicious cyberactivity.
