Oklahoma shooting kills 5 young children

Six people, including five young children, were killed and another adult was wounded Tuesday after a gunman opened fire at an Oklahoma City apartment building, police said.

The children were ages 2, 3, 5, 6 and 9, their names have not yet been released, according to local reporters. The suspect has been arrested by local police.

Someone called emergency services at about 1:30 a.m. to report multiple shots fired at a home on Indiana Street in Muskogee, which is about 45 miles southeast of Tulsa.

Police found suspect Jarron Deajon Pridgeon with a gun, but he was able to escape. He was arrested later, now remains in pretrial detention and is not cooperating with investigators.

Officers at the scene found one man and four children dead. Police said a fifth child was taken to a Tulsa hospital, but could not be saved. Police said a woman was also injured, but in stable condition. Authorities do not yet have a motive, but they do not believe other suspects are involved. The suspect and the victims most likely lived in the house, but the exact nature of their relationship has not yet been determined.
