On Saturday night near Burlington, a 19-year-old accelerated to 308 kilometers per hour on the Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Coupe, which he borrowed from his parents.
The incident occurred on the QEW highway west of Toronto, where the maximum allowed speed reaches 110 kilometers per hour. According to the policeman who stopped the teenage offender, that was the most serious speeding he had seen in his career.
Sergeant Kerry Schmidt said on Twitter that the driver only had a G2 license and another 19-year-old passenger in the car. The officer added that when his colleague sent him a photo from the radar at 308 kilometers per hour, he thought it was a joke and he was being played.
Ontario police say they blamed the 19-year-old driver for street racing and dangerous driving. Among other things, the driver’s licence was suspended for two years and his car was confiscated for seven days. The fine for such a violation is about 10,000 Canadian dollars.
